David Fleming has been crafting custom knives for over 15 years, guided by a deep respect for traditional workmanship and a passion for creating tools that are as functional as they are personal.
His journey began as a farrier, forging knives from farrier rasps he used in his trade. As his skills evolved, David transitioned to premium, purpose-made knife steels and distinctive natural handle materials—drawn to the challenge of working with materials where no two pieces are ever the same.
Every knife is made entirely by hand in David’s shop using the stock removal method. He works alone, overseeing every step of the process from start to finish. Over the years, his material selection has expanded to include high-end steels such as CPM-154 stainless, CPM Magnacut Stainless Steel, S60V, and select carbon steels. Handle materials range from elk horn and deer horn to cow horn and bone, as well as rare and ancient materials including mammoth tooth and tusk, fossilized walrus tusk, warthog tusk, and—when available—Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep.
All grinds are true hand-done hollow grinds. David uses no guides or jigs, believing that shaping each blade by hand allows for greater precision, character, and personal attention than any mechanical aid ever could.
Rooted in the Southern United States, David takes immense pride in his work and his heritage. Every knife that leaves his shop carries his maker’s mark—a symbol of craftsmanship, integrity, and accountability.
David welcomes the opportunity to speak personally with his customers and collaborate one-on-one to design a knife that meets their exact vision. From the initial conversation through final payment, he prefers direct communication to ensure clarity, trust, and a truly custom experience.
Thank you for supporting handcrafted American blades.
